The class action lawsuit against Visa and MasterCard alleges that, between January, 2004, and November, 2012, the Defendants (Visa, MasterCard and several large consumer card issuing banks including Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase and Citigroup) conspired to artificially inflate the rates of interchange fees, aka "swipe fees", that merchants pay during a Visa or MasterCard credit or debit card transaction.
